President Mamnoon Hussain has said that the Muslim Ummah should unite to achieve peace and prosperity in their countries and end the turmoil and sufferings of the people.

The President said this while talking to Nobel Peace Laureate, Mrs. Tawakkol Abdel-Salam Karman, who along with a delegation called on the President at the Aiwan-e-Sadr, Islamabad on Wednesday.

Welcoming Mrs. Tawakkol Abdel-Salam Karman and her delegation to Pakistan, the President stated that award of Nobel Peace Prize to her was met with a great deal of joy in Pakistan as well. The President said that Mrs. Tawakkol Abdel-Salam Karman is one of the youngest Nobel Prize laureates so she represents all youth and not only women adding that the youth of Pakistan have great role models in her and Malala Yousafzai.

The President said that the people of Pakistan are proud of the achievement of the Nobel laureate and urged her to speak up for the oppressed in Palestine, Kashmir, Syria, Iraq, Yemen, Libya and elsewhere. The President stated that the people of Pakistan have also suffered and been the victim of terrorism adding that the government has decided to fight this menace and operation against the terrorists and criminals would continue till their complete elimination. The President said that Pakistan desires peace in Afghanistan and the region and wants to have friendly relations with all countries particularly its neighbours.

The President called Mrs. Tawakkol Abdel-Salam Karman as the daughter of Pakistan and wished her and the visiting delegation a pleasant and fruitful stay in Pakistan.

Speaking on the occasion, Mrs. Tawakkol Abdel-Salam Karman said that she is honoured and overwhelmed by the warmth and affection shown to her by the government and people of Pakistan and considers Pakistan as her second home.
