PR No.12 Prime Minister Along With Chairman Ndma Visit To Earthquake Affected Areas Of Dir And Bajaur Agency Islamabad

Following the 26 October earthquake, NDMA in collaboration with all stakeholders, Pakistan Armed Forces and DMAs is ensuring all possible relief assistance to address the needs of the earthquake affectees. As per Pakistan Meteorological Department about 85 aftershocks with magnitude of 2.2-5.3 Richter scale have been recorded. Taking immediate notice of the situation the Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif along with Chairman NDMA visited different earthquake affected areas which include Shangla, Peshawar, Chitral, Dassu and Bajaur Agency. Chairman, NDMA Major General Asghar Nawaz along with his field team also visited earthquake areas of Malakand Division and Bajaur Agency from 29-30 October, 2015 to personally monitor on ground relief activities and compensation verification process. Prime Minister along with Chairman NDMA also visited Dir and Bajaur Agency today and distributed compensation cheques among the earthquake affectees.

In addition following measures have so far been undertaken to ensure prompt response and timely relief assistance for the earthquake affectees.

5 x helicopters, continue to provide relief assistance.

So far 94 aerial sorties have been flown.

3 x relief camps and 27 relief distribution points have been established.

As per NHA, all National Highways are opened for traffic.

No major structural damages to health facilities are reported and all health facilities are providing emergency health assistance to people in need.

Armed forces have provided 4x Medical teams to augment the existing resources.

Verification process of the earthquake affectees is in progress.

NDMA teams have already been deployed in Malakand Division to assess the situation on ground and oversee relief operation.

So far 36,772 tents, 42,828 blankets, 6,494 plastic mats, 779.48 tons of food packs, 14,000 tarpaulins, bottled water 14 tons, 49 water filter plants,116 generator sets and 27 tons of medicines have been sent as part of national relief efforts for the earthquake affectees

KP has provided compensation for 166 dead and 87 injured while Punjab has provided compensation for 5 dead and 5 injured , GB has provided compensation for 14 dead and 6 injured. FATA has provided compensation to 7 dead and 5 injured.
