PR No. 289 MoS Engr Muhammad Baligh Ur Rehman attended the MoU signing ceremony between National Education Foundation and private schools from Gilgit Baltistan and FATA regarding technical and vocational education under the public private partnership, as chief guest today Islamabad: November 30, 2016

It’s a step towards improvement, to educate each and every child of our country, said the Minister.  He appreciated the efforts of the team of NEF and said that they are extremely committed to implement this vision and mission in true letter and spirit.

 

Minister of State said that 16 % of the students get technical education around the world but in Pakistan less than 1% students get technical training, therefore we are in dire need of technical and vocational schools here. He added that there are 24 million children who are out of school in Pakistan, one reason of this is that that not every child has an aptitude of formal education and we don’t have enough technical and vocational schools here to train such students. He said that we hope that 10% of total schools in Pakistan should be vocational and technical schools.

 

Minister of State said that our government has a mission of providing quality education to each and every child, and we strongly condemn any kind of child labor. We are going to start a training program for entrepreneurs who wants to open ECED (Early Childhood Education Development) Centers in Pakistan, said the Minister.

 

The main purpose of these technical schools are to equip academically weak and out of school children with skills of demand driven vocational trades. NEF by entering into public private partnerships with these schools would provide free vocational education from class 6th to class 8th. Provision of Rs. 800/child from class 6th to class 8th along with the provision of free books, Partial expenditure of Rs. 2.2 million (maximum) by NEF on establishment of workshops on vocational and technical training, Monitoring and evaluation by NEF along with the third party validation are part of this agreement.

 

MoU signed between NEF and Irfan Public School, Azam Warsak, South Waziristan, FATA, Shehzad Public School and College, Shewa North Waziristan, Faizi Academy, Sass Valley, Nagar dist, Hunza Nagar, GB, Janan Public School Chilas, Dist Diamer, GB and Al Qalam Public School, Hargis Dist Skardu, GB.

 

Event was attednded by MD NEF Qaiser Majeed, Parliamentary Secretary Nazir Khan, Ex Senator Razina Alma Khan and other officials of ministry.
