A high level European Union Delegation led by Gus Houdduin, Dietmar Krissler, Andres Julin and Rudi Delarue called upon the Chairman NCHR. The Chairman NCHR briefed the delegation on the roles, functions and mandate of the NCHR and its contribution regarding the performance review of the Government under GSP+.

The Chairman said that the present Government is committed for the protection of the human rights. He stressed that mutual relationship between the European Union and the Government should be based on trade not aid.

The Chairman said that he is trying to ensure the independence of the NCHR as mandated by the NCHR Act of 2012.

The Delegation appreciated the efforts of NCHR in tackling the human rights issues in Pakistan.
