PR No. 234 Meeting of implementation Committee regarding security of media houses/persons Islamabad: September 28, 2016

The follow-up and maiden meeting of the Implementation Committee of the Ministerial Committee on security of media houses /persons was held today at MOIBNH. The meeting was chaired by the Parliamentary Secretary MOIBNH, Mr.Mohsin Shahnawaz Ranjha. The purpose of the meeting was to monitor the implementation of the decisions taken in the 6th Ministerial Committee on security of media houses/persons.  The purpose of the implementation committee was to ensure the security of media houses and generate active response from all the stakeholders, before the next Ministerial Committee Meeting. The Parliamentary Secretary stressed the installation of panic alert system and inquired about the number of panic alert system in press clubs across the country.

Moreover, in order to expedite the compliance process, Parliamentary Secretary directed the Director (press) MOIBNH to issue reminders for quick compliance and implementation of the Ministerial Committee’s decisions before next meeting. The Secretary pointed out the issue relating to the training of media persons with the help from ICT Police M/o Interior. Moreover the help from Ministry of Interior could be sought to identify the security companies /guards—Rangers and Paramilitary forces retired personnel for deployment in media houses. Similarly he directed that before the next meeting of implementation committee, the reminder for compliance may be issued to provincial secretary information for latest development regarding   the training of security guards nominated by the media houses in their relevant provinces.

The foremost purpose of the implementation committee’s meeting was to bring all stakeholders to a quick compliance of the decisions of 6th meeting of the Ministerial committee on security related issues of media houses/persons.
