Celebrating
the 52nd Defense Day of Pakistan in the Embassy of Pakistan in
Riyadh, Vice Admiral (retd) Khan Hasham Bin Saddique, Pakistan’s Ambassador to
Saudi Arabia praised excellent cooperation between Pakistan and the Kingdom of
Saudi Arabia in the field of security and defense cooperation. He thanked Saudi
Arabia for standing by Pakistan “not just in the times of need but at all
times” and hoped that the cooperation between the two countries will be further
strengthened under the wise leadership of His Majesty King Salman bin Abdul
Aziz and His Royal Highness Crown Prince Muhammad bin Salman, says a press
release received here today from Jeddah.
In his
address on the occasion, the Ambassador highlighted the achievements of the
Armed Forces of Pakistan in their successful defense of the country from
conventional and unconventional threats. He singled out the successes of
Pakistan’s security and law enforcement apparatus, backed by the people of
Pakistan, in their fight against terrorism and extremism. He reaffirmed
Pakistan’s continued efforts and commitment to the global fight against
terrorism despite constraints.
Over the
last few years, Pakistan has launched world’s largest military operations
against terrorists killing and arresting thousands of them. As a result, there
has been a five-fold decrease in terrorist attacks in the country and the lives
lost in them. The event also showcased a short video highlighting the efforts
and achievements of Pakistan Armed Forces in the fight against terrorism.
The Ambassador was speaking at the
reception organized by the Embassy of Pakistan hosted in commemoration of 6
September 1965, when the valiant armed forces of Pakistan successfully defended
the country against foreign aggression. The reception was attended by senior
Saudi officials in Riyadh, Ambassadors, diplomats, defense attaches and
Pakistani luminaries in Riyadh.
