PR No. 212 PAKISTAN AND AZERBAIJAN REACHED ON UNDERSTANDING TO ENHANCE COLLABORATION IN DEFENCE PRODUCTION Islamabad: September 27, 2016.

Rana Tanveer Hussain, Federal Minister of Defence Production who is on official visit to (Baku) Azerbaijan, to attend ADEX-2016. Pakistan delegation comprises of Federal Minister f or Defence Production, Rana Tanveer Hussain, Chairman Pakistan Ordnance Factory Lt Gen Omar Mehmood Hayat and Chairman Pakistan Aeronautical Complex Air Marshal Arshad Malik.

Rana Tanveer Hussain, Federal Minister for Defence Production along with the delegation called on President of Azerbaijan H.E Mr. Ilham Aliyev in his office at President’s Palace.  In the meeting it was also decided to enhance collaboration in defence cooperation. Rana Tanveer Hussain said that Pakistan attached great importance to its brotherly relations with Azerbaijan. He said that Pakistan will always support Azerbaijan in every field.

Minister for Defence Production also highlighted Kashmir issue and the human rights abuses in the Indian occupied Kashmir. The abuses range from mass killings, enforced disappearances, torture, rape and sexual abuse to political repression and suppression of freedom of speech. Hundreds of innocent people have been injured by Indian Army firing pellet on anti-India protest rallies. He urged the international community to stop India from committing violence in Kashmir. Entire population of Kashmir is barricaded inside their homes. Mobile phones and internet connectivity has been denied. Journalists are attacked and harassed on a daily basis. Families are in intense distress without information about their loved ones. Hospitals have been attacked and ambulance drivers shot at with grave consequences for expectant mothers and those needing emergency medical attention. Essential supplies have been blocked and media operations banned. Without timely international intervention the consequences are bound to be ghastly.
