PR No. 57 NDU delegation calls on High Commissioner Tariq Azim Islamabad

A delegation of National Defence University (NDU), currently on foreign study tour to Canada, called on High Commissioner Tariq Azim Khan at the Pakistan High Commission here today, says a press release received here today from Ottawa.

The High Commissioner warmly welcomed the delegation and said that our top priority is to strengthen Pakistan-Canada relations and to create positive image in the minds of Canadians about our country. He informed that during the last one year there has been significant improvement in our bilateral political relations.

He said that the volume of trade between the two countries has been doubled in the last year and reached to $ 1.4 billion. However, still there is a lot to do in this regard and we are reaching out to the Canadians for utilising the existing true potential between the two countries, he added.

He informed the delegation that Canadian investors and businessmen are now looking towards Asian markets and Pakistan provides an opportunity to them to reap the dividends of the economic opportunities in the country. The High Commissioner hoped that there will be significant increase in bilateral trade during the next few years, due to Canadians shift in trade policies of looking towards Asia.

The High Commissioner while concluding the discussion said that exchange of such visits of NDU provides officers with tremendous exposure and great learning experience of the foreign governments and he hoped that the officers can replicate the positive things in the public sector, while serving the Country.
