PR No.222 Islamabad is the first city in Pakistan, which has entered the comity of cities of the developed world by signing the Islamabad Green Charter”, Zahid Hamid Islamabad

A ceremony was held in Islamabad to sign ‘Islamabad Green Charter” organized by Capital Development Authority, Green Pakistan Program and Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad.

“The actions incorporated in these Accords and the charter cover the whole gamut of environmental concerns and considerations which are vital for ensuring the green future of any city” highlighted by the Minister.

The Prime Minister’s Focal Person on Green Pakistan Program and Climate Change Mr. Rizwan Mehboob gave introductory speech on signing of this accord and said this ceremony is very important in many ways due its background. Mother Nature has been destroyed by human activities. In 2005 at city of Francisco mayors of world cities gathered and pledged to sign an accord. This is called UN Environment Accord. Now citizen of Islamabad would proudly say that are included in it.

The Mayor of Islamabad and Chairman CDA said while addressing the audience that I am inspires to make Islamabad a city which can be competed with any city of the world.

A beautiful documentary about Islamabad was also shown to audience .The official website of Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad was also inaugurated. A large number of people from government official, local bodies elected representatives, NGOs and media participated in the ceremony
