Federal Minister for Inter-provincial Coordination Mian Riaz Hussain Pirzada has said that Pakistan is torch bearer of peace in world and has always supported and endeavoured to develop cordial and brotherly relations with all the nations in Asia.

He was addressing inaugural ceremony of Pakistan International Series Badminton Tournament organized by Pakistan Badminton Federation at Sports Complex, Islamabad on Tuesday.

Badminton teams of seven countries including Pakistan, Malaysia, New Zealand , Canada, Syria , Iraq and Nepal are participating in this tournament.

The Federal Minister said that the present government wants to promote sports in the country and will take steps to uplift sports.

Riaz Pirzada noted that organizing of an event of international stature is great success and will convey a message to international community as well as sports bodies about the security situation and positive image of the country.

It is heartening to note that after years if uncertainty , the game of Badminton has taken fresh roots in the country and the Pakistan Badminton Federation has been able to organize an international tournament in Pakistan, he added.

Federal Minister Riaz Pirzada also assured his full support and cooperation for holding the tournament
