PR No. 194 FEDERAL MINISTER FOR CLIMATE CHANGE CONGRATULATED FORESTRY SECTOR IN PAKISTAN ON BECOMING MEMBER OF FOREST CARBON PARTNERSHIP FACILITY Islamabad: 27th September 2017

Federal Minister for Climate Change Senator Mushahidullah Khan congratulated forest department on Pakistan electing as bureau member of Forest Carbon Partnership Facility. He said we need to increase forest cover to reduce carbon emission. Pakistan is facing serious threats of Climate Change. It requires collective efforts to deal with issue.

Pakistan elected as Bureau member of Forest Carbon Partnership Facility at the tenth Annual meeting of Participants Committee   held at Luang Prabang Laos DPR.  Other bureau members are USA and Tanzania.

The meeting is attended by sixty countries and FCPF takes strategic decisions regarding funding awards to countries, and capacity issues related to climate change and forests.

In his speech the Pak representative lauded the role of SDPI'S group on RDD PLUS and LEAD Pakistan's all foresters mailing list he also encouraged researchers to submit abstracts for the forthcoming SDC.

Under overall leadership of Senator Mushahidullah  Khan who attended and addeeseex the REDD work group meeting of all provinces in Islamabad prior to this high level meeting.  

Pakistan's National Forst Policy 2017 and Climate Change Authority was acknowledged by the FCPF management I their country progress presentation.
