German Special Representative for Afghanistan and Pakistan Ambassador Sabine Sparwasser called on National Security Adviser Lt. Gen. (Retd.) Nasser Khan Janjua this afternoon.
Matters pertaining to peace process in Afghanistan and counter-terrorism cooperation came under discussion in the meeting.
Ambassador Sparwasser noted that Pakistan could play a key role in reconciliation process in Afghanistan which necessitated improvement in mutual trust and bilateral relations between the two countries.
National Security Adviser stressed the need for seeking an early closure to the decades old conflict in Afghanistan, which has wreaked a heavy toll on both Afghanistan and Pakistan. He emphasized the significance of political reconciliation for a lasting and durable solution and conveyed Pakistan’s readiness to support it in all possible manners.
National Security Adviser apprised Ambassador Sabine about counter terrorism efforts of the Pakistan in the context of  National Action Plan.
German Ambassador to Pakistan  and Defence Attache were also present in the meeting.
