This meeting was held in regard to the upcoming visit of President of Belarus His Excellency Mr. Alexander Lukashenko to Pakistan from 4th Oct, 2016 to 6th Oct, 2016. During the visit, 8 agreements/MoUs are likely to be signed between Government of Pakistan and Government of Belarus. The name of the agreements are as follow; Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Belarus and the Government of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan on mutual recognition of Educational Certificates, Agreement on Mutual cooperation between Belarusian State University of Physical Culture Minks and the Quaid e Azam University, Agreement of cooperation between Quaid e Azam University and Belarusian State Technology University, Agreement on Academic and Innovative Research cooperation between NUML and Belarusian State Technological University, Agreement on cooperation between NUST and Belarusian State Technological University, Agreement of cooperation between UET and Belarusian National Technical University, Minks, Agreement of collaboration on the establishment of Urdu and Belarusian Language chairs between NUML and Minks State linguistic university, and the Agreement of cooperation in the field of technical and vocational education between Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training and Ministry of Education Belarus. These memorandums will be signed under the presence of Prime Minister of Pakistan Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif.
Minister of State warmly welcomed the Minister for Education Belarus and said that these MoUs would be made operational in true letter and spirit, as soon as they are signed, and would not be shelved like many before. Minister of Education H.E. Mihail Zhuravkov also said that they are looking forward to collaborate in technical and vocational education, linguistics and Innovation/IT Parks, and would love to host students and faculty members of universities from Pakistan in Belarus in cultural exchange programs.
Talking on the occasion, chairman HEC said that we are looking forward to the cooperation from Belarus in Nuclear Energy Program, Satellite Technology, Bio Technology, Nano Technology and sports and physical management. He also mentioned that Ministry of Inter Provincial Coordination along with HEC is already working on the first sports university of Pakistan. He further added that as Belarus is very well ahead in agriculture technology so it would be a great step if they could also collaborate with the Agriculture University of Faisalabad in cultural equipments. VC UET said that they would love to collaborate with universities of Belarus in the field of innovation, photovoltaic solar technology, gasified and coalfield power plants under the energy sector. VC QAU mentioned that although QAU has been ranked 1st in the HEC universities’ ranking but it does need some improvements in its certain departments namely social sciences, and research etc. Moreover VC NUML said that they require collaboration of Belarus in its Bureau of translation and interpretation and publishing house. Rector NUST said that a sports engineering department is going to be set up in NUST with the help of Chinese government. And they are looking forward to cooperate in the field of sports management, natural sciences and technology parks with Belarus.
In the end, Minister of State thanked H.E and said that he hopes that these cultural exchange programs and collaboration from both sides would be fruitful for both the countries in near future.
Meeting was attended by the Additional Secretary Allah Bakhsh Malik, Chairman HEC Dr. Mukhtar, Vice Chancellor UET Fazal Ahmad Khalid, Rector NUST Engr Muhammad Asghar, Vice Chancellor QAU Dr. Javed Ashraf, Zabata Shinwari (Pakistan Academy of Sciences, Vice Chancellor NUML Brig Ziadduin Najam, and other officials of the ministry.
