H.E Mr. Dashgin Shikarov, Ambassador of Azerbaijan called on Federal Minister for Defence Production, Rana Tanveer Hussain in his office. Rana Tanveer Hussain welcomed the dignitary. The Minister expressed Pakistan’s whole hearted support for Azerbaijan’s plans of modernizing its Armed Forces. Minister for Defence highly appreciated the brotherly feelings of Azerbaijan Government for Pakistan on all international forums including OIC and United Nations.
Both sides agreed to form a Joint Working Group (JWG) for Establishment and Promotion of Defence Industrial Cooperation. The Minister desired to sign a MoU on Defence Industrial Cooperation. Azerbaijan is looking for Joint ventures and transfer of technology to develop its defence industry. Ambassador of Azerbaijan conveyed his concerns on current Kashmir scenario and condemned the atrocities of Indian Army in Indian occupied Kashmir.
Minister for Defence Production appreciated existing training cooperation between the two countries and desired to expand it further. Minister proposed more frequent exchange of visits to each other’s institutions to explore new areas of mutual cooperation. He also stressed on the importance of student exchange program especially in the field of science and technology.
H.E Mr. Dashgin Shikarov, Ambassador of Azerbaijan thanked Govt of Pakistan for its cooperation in development of defence industry of Azerbaijan and appreciated efforts of Minister of Defence Production in enhancing ties between the two countries. He also extended invitation to Rana Tanveer Hussain Federal Minister for Defence Production to attend Defence Exhibition (ADEX-2) being held from 27-30 September 2016 in Azerbaijan.
