Ambassador of Pakistan to the US, Mr. Aizaz Chaudhry visited Los Angeles, California from 29 April-01 May, 2017. This was his first official visit to the State of California after assuming charge as Ambassador of Pakistan, says a press release received here today from Washington.
On April 29, 2017, Ambassador Aizaz Chaudhry attended a literary event organized by Urdu Writers Society of North America in Riverside, California and praised the role it is playing in promoting Urdu, the national language of Pakistan.
On April 30, 2017, Ambassador Chaudhry interacted with Pakistani students from UCLA, USC, CalState Fullerton, CalState Northridge & different community colleges of greater Los Angeles. Ambassador Chaudhry urged the young students to continue to play the role of a bridge between Pakistan & the United States like the first generation Pakistani-Americans.
At lunch, Ambassador interacted with leading Los Angeles-based Pakistani-American women entrepreneurs, professionals & businesspersons. He appreciated the role being played by the Pakistani-American women entrepreneurs & professionals in community & humanitarian work. Ambassador Chaudhry said that women in Pakistan are playing a pro-active role in myriad fields. Pakistan has a target to involve 45% women work force in national economy by 2025.
In the afternoon, Ambassador had a meeting with the US Congressman Ted Lieu, Ranking Member, House Committee on Foreign Affairs of the US Congress. Ambassador Chaudhry & Congressman Ted Lieu had a productive exchange of views on bilateral relations & regional security situation. While briefing the Congressman, the Ambassador said that security & economic situation in Pakistan has improved tremendously and new investment opportunities are coming up. After the meeting, Ambassador presented a book on the Calligraphy of Sadequain to Congressman Lieu.
In the evening, Ambassador Chaudhry interacted with representatives of LA-based Pak-American Organizations & Community notables in Pakistan Consulate, Los Angeles. While addressing the Community, Ambassador Chaudhry said that the well-established Pak-American Community on the West Coast has huge potential to create goodwill for Pakistan in the US.
At night, the Ambassador attended Safeer-e-Pakistan 11th Pride of Performance Awards Night & Gala Dinner in Los Angeles. The event was attended by a large number of Pakistani-American Community in Los Angeles. Ambassador Chaudhry presented Awards to notable Pakistani-Americans from across the US.
On May 01, Ambassador Chaudhry addressed a Roundtable luncheon hosted by the Los Angeles World Affairs Council on US-Pakistan Relations & Regional Situation in South Asia followed by Question & Answers Session.
In the afternoon, Ambassador Chaudhry visited RAND Corporation and had a meeting with Ms. Robin Meili, Director of International Programmes, RAND Corporation & Mr. Rafiq Dossani, Director, Centre for Asia Pacific Policy, RAND Corporation.
Visit of the Ambassador Aizaz Chaudhry to Los Angeles was very much appreciated by the growing Pakistani-American Community.
