Minister Professor Ahsan Iqbal chaired a high level meeting to overview the
security arrangements for month of Mohrram. High-ups of
security agencies , provincial administration and the officials of the
ministry participated in the meeting.

Minister has issued directions to law enforcement agencies to undertake
concerted efforts for ensuring
fool proof security to the Moharram processions and Majalis.

Minister said that the eminent scholars must propagate the message of peace
from the pulpit of mosques and urged them to cooperate with the government in
countering any bid to fume sectarian violence .In this connection, law
enforcement agencies and local administrations should forge a strong
coordination with the prominent scholars of Pakistan.

Minister directed the security agencies to monitor the activities of proscribed
outfits and those who misuse loudspeakers to perpetrate hatred and
dissension among the people of Pakistan on sectarian grounds.

Minister also noted that internal
rift became the leading factor behind the downfall of great powers
in the history . While emphasizing the importance of community policing,
he said that it is need of the hour to mobilise community policing at all
levels by promoting the sense of responsibility among the citizens.

Minister also directed the law enforcement agencies to conduct combing operations
and surveys in order to identify and apprehend the miscreants elements. He
added that no one will be allowed to mar the international image of
Pakistan.
Moreover,
it was apprised in the meeting that in the month of Moharram, additional
32720 personnel will be deployed all over the country to avoid any untoward
incident. In the threat prone areas, aerial
monitoring will be undertaken and also a control centre has been set up in the
Ministry of Interior that will coordinate with the provincial administration of
all provinces.
