While welcoming the guests High Commissioner Basit said “We are delighted to welcome our distinguished guests to Iftar at Pakistan High Commission. The Holy month of Ramadan is a month of blessings, compassion, forgiveness and peace. Muslims around the world during this month make special efforts to fully submit themselves to the will  of Allah and recommit themselves to the golden teachings of Islam and Prophet Mohammad (PBUH).  Following these principles, Pakistan strongly believes in peace, stability and prosperity for all countries and for all people around the world. This is the essence of Pakistan’s foreign policy. This also drives our India policy. We want peace and stability between our two countries and in our region. Our two countries must work together to have a tension-free and a cooperative relationship. We must solve all our problems and settle all our
disputes, including Jammu and Kashmir, peacefully to usher in an era of stability and prosperity in South Asia. We must bequeath a peaceful and prosperous South Asia to coming generations”.

A large number of guests from various walks of life attended the reception.
