Ministry of religious affairs and interfaith harmony organized a conference today in Muzaffarabad on the topic “deen ka hussan, aman-bardasht aur sabr-o-tahammul. The Minister for religious affairs and interfaith harmony Sardar Muhammad Yousaf attended the conference. Addressing the Conference, Minister said that sitting government has initiated a reconciliation process in the context of internal and external circumstances of the country, which is ongoing at the moment. He added that through reconciliation initiatives the government will eradicate all kinds of sectarianism, extremism and subversive activities perpetrated in the name of religion. He explained, in the modern world all societies are linked to different kinds of faith and religions, which is why interfaith harmony is important to any society. Minister said, people of all religious faith living in Pakistan are enjoying full religious freedom and they are spending their lives according to their faith with free will. He appealed to ulema e ikram to extend their full support to the government in the war against terrorism.

He urged them to raise unified voice against the killing carried out in the name of religion. He said that for minorities 5% quota is allocated in all Federal jobs. Every year on 11th august official day of minorities is observed on governmental level. He said that not only seats are reserved for minorities in the national as well as provincial assembly ,but through 18th amendment seat are also reserved in the senate proportionate representation of the provinces. Minister concluded and hoped that through this conference the atmosphere of interfaith will further improve and ulema will play their due role to aware public about minority rights in the light of Islamic teaching. Prime Minister Azad Kashmir also addressed during conference along with other participants and applauded efforts made by ministry of religious affair and interfaith harmony in this regard.
