President Mamnoon Hussain has urged the Islamic world to focus on development and promotion of science and technology, which played a pivotal role in the progress and prosperity of people.

He said the Islamic countries should join hands and exchange their experiences and expertise in the field of science and technology for the common benefit.

The President expressed these views at a dinner, he hosted for the participants of the 15th session of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation’s Standing Committee on Scientific and Technological Cooperation (COMSTECH) here at the Aiwan-e-Sadr on Tuesday night.

Besides the COMSTECH session’s participants, the dinner was attended by a number of federal ministers, members of the Parliament and diplomats.

The President said enhanced cooperation among the Islamic countries in the area of science and technology would also help in the implementation of a ten-year action plan for scientific development in the Muslim World approved by the COMSTECH in its 15th session in Islamabad.

He assured the participants of COMSTECH session that Pakistan would continue to play its effective role and extend every possible support for the development of science and technology in the Muslim world.

The President hoped that the deliberations and consultations made during the 15th session of COMSTECH would prove beneficial for the Muslim countries.

The participants of COMSTECH session, he hoped, had good time in Islamabad and would be carrying back good memories with them.
