A   four member delegation of City & Guilds headed by Mr. Mike Dawe, Group Director, Global Skills Development Services called upon Mr. Zulfiqar Ahmad Cheema, Executive Director NAVTTC in his office today. The meeting took place as a follow-up on the progress in the backdrop of MoU signed between NAVTTC and City & Guilds in December 2015.

In this meeting, topics of mutual interest pertaining to curricula development, quality assurance, monitoring and evaluation, teachers’ training, establishment of center of excellence in Islamabad, and accreditation & certification came under discussion. ED NAVTTC appreciated the role of City & Guilds in development of Competency Based Training Curricula and acknowledged the cooperation between the two entities in this regard. Members of City & Guilds praised recently held skills competition across the country which provided an opportunity for trainees, teachers, training providers, industrialists and employers to be present and interact under one roof. Executive director told that that as a result of this initiative, number of applicants for Prime Minister‘s Youth Skill Development Phase-III scheduled to start from 18 May 2016, has already surpassed the required number of 25000.

City & Guilds’ team highly appreciated the initiatives taken by NAVTTC in reforming the TVET Sector in Pakistan, especially with regard to quality of training to be of international standard thus ensuring high degree of employability for skilled youth of Pakistan at par with competitors in international job market. Head of City & Guilds assured NAVTTC their utmost collaboration in all aspects of Vocational and Technical Training particularly in Monitoring & Evaluation, Accreditation & Certification, Centers of Excellence as well as Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL). The City & Guilds also offered to facilitate NAVTTC in obtaining membership of World Skill, an international body which organizes Skill Competitions at global level.

Executive Director NAVTTC said that NAVTTC’s certificate holders will be in a better position to secure jobs at both the domestic and international market. He thanked City & Guilds for their keen interest and expressed his desire and hope that cooperation between the two organizations will enhance in days to come for achieving excellence in TVET Sector in Pakistan.
