The Open Government Partnership (OGP) is a multilateral initiative to secure concrete commitments from governments to promote transparency, fight corruption, and empowering citizens using new technologies.

Pakistan has initiated the process of joining OGP. In this respect the Minister for Finance, Mr. Ishaq Dar, during the OGP Global Summit held in Paris in 2016, signed the Letter of Intent.

Today, at the Ministry of Law and Justice, the representatives of OGP called on the Minister for Law and Justice, Mr. Zahid Hamid. In the meeting, Mr. Zahid Hamid highlighted achievements made by the Law and Justice Division and explained its OGP

commitments regarding archiving, digitization and regulation of publication of laws in Pakistan. This will include establishment of a Laws of Pakistan Cell in the Ministry which will archive and digitize the Pakistan Code and place it on its website, translate all laws in Urdu and other local languages for promoting access and awareness of the general public and issue certificate of accuracy before publication of any law.
