PR No. 121 Committee on Electoral Reforms meets on 16.06.2016 Islamabad

Finance Minister, Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar here on Monday, chaired the 17th meeting of the Parliamentary Committee on Electoral Reforms (PCER).
At the outset, minutes of the 16th meeting of the Committee were shared with all the members and confirmed.
The meeting later had further deliberations on the proposed Constitution Amendment Bill concerning the Election Commission of Pakistan.
During the last meeting of the Committee it was decided that members may have consultations with their party leadership and revert to the Committee in the next meeting with their inputs for any changes in the proposed amendments. Members of various political parties, accordingly shared with the meeting their views on the amendments.

Talking to media later, Finance Minister, Ishaq Dar said the meeting had detailed discussion on broadening of the criteria for appointment of Chairman and members of the Election Commission. The Committee would meet on Tuesday again to finalize the proposed Constitution Amendment Bill, he added.
