The best way to development is through promoting purposeful education and providing young people respectable employment so that they are able to serve their motherland by utilizing their capabilities in meaningful activities and making their families useful citizens of society. This was said by the President Mamnoon Hussain during an award distribution ceremony organized by National Vocational & Technical Training Commission. He said that Prime Minister’s vision of making the youth skillful would be helpful in reducing unemployment in the country. He appreciated the Prime Minister’s Youth Skill Development Program as a part of this process according to which the selected young people from across the country are not only being imparted technical training in phases but are also being provided with stipends and essential tool kits according to their specialization so that they face no difficulty when they enter their practical life after completing their training. China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) has opened new horizon of development for which we need technically skilled youth in miscellaneous fields, he said.

The President added that the establishment of Skill Counseling Desk and Job Placement Centre by NAVTTC for providing guidance regarding employment opportunities and selection of training fields are a welcome step. He urged the industries and entrepreneurs of the country to encourage the youth to get training under their institutions so that the national economy can be stabilized by making the campaign of reducing unemployment successful.

On this occasion, Governor Sindh, Ishrat-ul-Ibad praised the Executive Director NAVTTC’s initiative of holding skill competitions across the country that not only created awareness among the youth but also helped them realize the importance of technical and vocational education. He added that the government is fully focused to provide technical and vocational education along with the conventional education which would benefit the economy in the long run.

Executive Director NAVTTC, Zulfiqar Ahmad Cheema, said that this year, more than 50,000 unemployed youth will be trained all over Pakistan in different technical trades. He said that these courses are free of charge, whereas; stipends will be paid to the trainees.

The president distributed cash prizes, tool kits and certificates among the winners of the competition.

People from various walks of life, including educationists, traders, students, bureaucrats and government officials, were present at the ceremony.
