PR No. 203 NO ENMITY, NO COMPETITION, SO ROMANIA AND PAKISTAN MUST COOPERATE WITH EACH OTHER IN DEFENCE SECTOR: RANA TANVEER HUSSAIN Islamabad: April 25, 2016

Pakistan and Romania on Monday decided to enhance defence cooperation. This understanding reached during a meeting of Romanian delegation and Rana Tanveer Hussain, Minister of Defence Production (MoDP). They exchanged views on matters of mutual interest and enhancing cooperation in defence production.

“As Pakistan and Romania does not share enmity or competition so they must cooperate in the field of defence”, said Rana Tanveer Hussain.

MoDP also showed interest in Puma helicopters. These helicopters were procured by Pakistan from 1987 to 88.The Pakistan Army has been using Pumas for transportation of army personal, food and equipment. The Aérospatiale SA 330 Puma is a four-bladed, twin-engine medium carriage helicopter. These helicopters played important role in Siachin flare.

Federal Minister also mentioned that the Romanian delegation should visit POF Wah, PAC Kamra and HIT Taxila in order to identify the areas of cooperation. Romanian side also tried to convince Pakistan to procure submarines. Pakistan and Romania signed an agreement in 2013 on defence cooperation in the fields of training, exports, imports of defence equipment and high-level engagements.
