Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif called on President Mamnoon Hussain at the Aiwan-e-Sadr on Friday and discussed the overall situation in the country including the pace of development projects under China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), ongoing energy projects, law and order situation and revitalization of national economy and operation Zarb-e-Azb.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif arrived at the Aiwan-e-Sadr in the morning for a meeting with the President and exchanged views on matters of national importance.  The Prime Minister briefed the President on policies and decisions of the Government on various issues.

The President commended the Prime Minister and his economic team for reviving the national economy through sound policy initiatives. The two called upon all to cooperate with the government in completing development agenda and maintain stability in the country. The two resolved that the Government will not be distracted from its agenda of progress and will vigorously pursue to complete the development projects to usher prosperity in the country and improve the standard of living of the people. The Government has ensured transparency and judicious use of public money while implementing various development projects and has followed zero tolerance policy for corruption.

They also reviewed the progress of Zarb-e-Azb operation and expressed satisfaction at the successes achieved and reaffirmed that the operation would continue till elimination of the last terrorist from the country. The two leaders lauded the immense sacrifices rendered by the armed forces and law enforcement personnel in fight against terrorism and extremism. It was resolved that the National Action Plan will be implemented in all areas of the country to restore complete peace.

Expressing satisfaction at the pace of implementation of CPEC projects, the two hoped that the completion of these projects will be a game changer not only for Pakistan but for the entire region. The two leaders agreed that this landmark project will benefit the whole country including all regions.

Both the leaders reviewed the regional situation and reiterated Pakistan’s desire to have friendly relations with all the neighboring countries for peace and prosperity in the region.

The two leaders underscored the need for national unity and cohesion in order to confront and overcome the challenges being faced by Pakistan and to put the country on the path to progress and prosperity.
