Mr. Mamnoon Hussain

President of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan

Address at the

“Passing Out of PMA Long Course”

(Kakul April 16, 2016)

“Bismillah-ir-Rahman-ir-Raheem”

Assalam-o-Alaikum!

I am delighted to participate in the passing out parade of 134 Long Course ,  52nd Integrated Course and 6th Mujahid Course of the Pakistan Military Academy.

My Dear Cadets!

I often say that Pakistan is an extraordinary gift from Allah which has been created on the basis of an ideology whose roots sprout from our faith. Pakistan in this context is not an ordinary country and its defence is therefore a religious obligation for us. You are imparted training in the Pakistan Military Academy in accordance with this spirit and objective.

My Dear Youth and Respected Guests!

Pakistan is an Islamic Welfare State and it is its responsibility to provide its citizens with all basic facilities and solve their problems. Despite challenges, the State has worked hard to fulfil its responsibilities but there are still some areas which require attention and the government is not oblivious to its responsibilities. As defenders of the motherland you are aware that the State cannot fully achieve national objectives until peace and stability is established by overcoming internal and external challenges.

My Dear Cadets!

The professional expertise of the army officers and their commitment to national cause is the result of sound training at the Pakistan Military Academy which produces generations of brave and valiant officers who are determined to sacrifice their all in defence of the country. The extraordinary spirit of sacrifice of our officers and Jawans is evident from the long unconventional war and operation “Zarb-e-Azb”.

On this occasion, I would like to congratulate your parents and teachers whose sincere endeavours helped you to achieve this important milestone in your life. Our young officers are today embarking on an enviable career and I am confident that by utilizing the skills gained during their training in the Pakistan Military Academy they will come up to the expectations of the nation in all testing times and will set new examples of chivalry and bravery in fulfilling the sacred duty of defence of the country.

Young Officers!

You are going to lead the best Army in the world whose Jawans are always ready to selflessly serve the country. You have to take these traditions to newer heights by utilizing your qualities of leadership, acumen, bravery and farsightedness.

Ladies and Gentlemen!

The country is today beset with many challenges.  Terrorists have martyred thousands of citizens and armed forces personnel through their barbaric acts. The political leadership has adopted a National Action Plan with consensus to surmount this challenge. The armed forces and other state organs have performed admirably by thwarting the nefarious designs of the terrorists and proved that for them nothing is more important than protecting the lives of people and are always ready to lay down their lives in pursuit of national objectives.

Ladies and Gentlemen!

Our Jawans have fought this war with a great passion and rendered extraordinary sacrifices. It is a matter of great satisfaction that the international community also acknowledges these sacrifices. Let me reiterate that operation “Zarb-e-Azb” under the National Action Plan will continue till elimination of the last terrorist to ensure peace and stability not only in the region but in the entire world. The sacrifices rendered during the fight against terrorism are unparalleled in the contemporary world. I am happy to note that we are rapidly moving towards attaining all our goals and the sacrifices rendered are bearing fruit.

Ladies and Gentlemen!

Pakistan is desirous to have cordial and friendly relations with its neighbours and in this regard our defence capabilities will ensure peace and prosperity in the region. However, foreign interference and nuclear and conventional arms race in the region are being perpetrated to destabilize Pakistan which we cannot ignore. Pakistan therefore wants an end to these ploys for regional and global peace and security of coming generations. Pakistan is of the view that for durable peace in the region resolution of all disputes including Kashmir is essential. Pakistan desires that all contentious issues should be resolved through dialogue in the spirit of peaceful coexistence.

In view of the peculiar regional situation, there is no room for complacency and we need to further strengthen our defence capabilities and at the same time continue our policy of peaceful resolution of all disputes. I am happy to state that our armed forces are fully aware of the challenges accruing as a result of changing global scenario and are prepared to tackle them. The Government of Pakistan will fulfil all needs of the armed forces to enable them to meet the internal and external threats confronting the motherland.

I, once again, congratulate all passing out cadets and award winners who have earned distinction through their excellent performance. I also compliment the cadets from friendly countries of Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Libya, Palestine and Afghanistan who as ambassadors of Pakistan would be instrumental in promoting friendship and affection between Pakistan and their countries.

My Dear Cadets!

The nation would fully stand by you in your quest to overcome challenges and hold the national flag higher. The best way to come up to the expectation of the nation is to fulfil all obligations in defence of the land with zeal and passion.

May Allah Protect Us All!

Pakistan Army Zindabad!

Pakistan Paindabad.
