PR No.110 Chairman Ndma Visits Gilgit Baltistan Islamabad: April 13, 2016

In order to assess on-ground situation Chairman NDMA Major General Asghar Nawaz has visited Gilgit Baltistan today. He also met Chief Minister GB and all officials there to coordinate relief efforts in wake of closure of KKH and restoration of road network connecting GB.

NDMA in coordination with Government of Gilgit Baltistan and with the assistance of Pakistan Air Force (PAF) has initiated relief operation to meet food shortage in GB due to blocked road network.

In this regard total four C-130 sorties carrying relief goods have so far been sent to GB carrying 20  tons of relief goods as per need assessment. The relief consignment comprised of Wheat Flour, children Milk Powder and other dry ration besides 550 shelters and 350 blankets. Furthermore, more flights have also been scheduled to send ration to GB till opening of KKH.

NDMA is in constant coordination with the Government of Gilgit Baltistan to provide all possible assistance in this regard. NDMA is continuously monitoring the situation and is in constant coordination with NHA and FWO to ensure early opening of the blocked roads.
