President Mamnoon Hussain has hoped that efforts of the Quadrilateral Coordination Group (QCG) for reconciliation in Afghanistan will bear fruit and situation in the region would soon improve.
The President said this while talking to the outgoing High Commissioner of Canada to Pakistan Ms. Heather Cruden who called on him at the Aiwan-e-Sadr, Islamabad on Friday.
The President stated that Pakistan is trying its best for peace and stability in the region and its efforts are yielding positive results. The President said that operation Zarb-e-Azb has achieved 90% targets and complete success will be attained soon which would bring stability in the region.
President Mamnoon said that dedicated attention is being paid on the education of women and children in Pakistan and implementation of many projects is underway to empower women. The President thanked the Government of Canada for extending cooperation in education projects in Pakistan and urged that Canada should consider easing visa formalities for Pakistani students interested in acquiring education there. The President stated that Pakistan would welcome Canada’s cooperation in projects for empowering women.
President Mamnoon said that Pakistan and Canada enjoy cordial relations noting that bilateral relations between the two countries were strengthening with the passage of time. The President underlined the need for enhancing bilateral trade volume between the two countries. He stated that with the operationalization of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, regional trade will grow enormously. The President wished the outgoing envoy success in her future assignments.
Outgoing High Commissioner of Canada to Pakistan Ms. Heather Cruden said that situation in Pakistan is improving rapidly and added that she had a productive and comfortable stay in Pakistan during her tenure as High Commissioner of Canada to Pakistan.
