PR No. 47 FINANCE MINISTER MEETS PRESIDENT OF ADB Frankfurt

Finance Minister, Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar had a meeting with President, Asian Development Bank (ADB), Takehiko Nakao here on the sidelines of the ADB’s Annual Board of Governors meeting.

The Minister underscored the high value Pakistan places on its partnership with ADB. He appreciated ADB’s support for providing USD 400 M under Sustainable Energy Sector Reform Program. He also appreciated the role of ADB in enhancing regional connectivity and expressed that he was looking forward to hosting the CAREC’s Ministerial meeting in Islamabad in October, 2016. He urged the ADB President that considering the huge development needs of Pakistan, the Bank may consider enhancing the financial resource allocation for Pakistan especially under Energy Sector Reform Program (Sub Program III) and Public Sector Reforms Program.

The Minister felicitated President Nakao for his dynamic and able leadership and expressed Pakistan’s support for his continuation as President of ADB.

President Nakao thanked the Minister for his support and expressed that Pakistan remains as one of the important countries for ADB to enhance its development assistance. He said that he is looking forward to his visit and participation in the CAREC Ministerial meeting in October, 2016.

Mr. Tariq Bajwa, Secretary EAD and other members of Pakistan’s delegation also attended the meeting.
