PR No. 41 1-DAY SENSITIZATION PROGRAM FOR REGULATORS OF PAKISTAN ON THE IMPORTANCE OF THIRD PARTY ASSESSMENT AND ACCREDITATION Islamabad

In order to formally introduce accreditation and its role for regulators in the economy of our country, a 1-Day Sensitization program for Regulators of Pakistan on the Importance of Third Party Assessment and Accreditation has been organized for raising awareness among the regulators and policy makers in collaboration with SAARC with the technical support of PTB on the 5th of May 2016 at Marriott Hotel, Islamabad. Experts from Germany and India have been invited to conduct the program and to discuss regulatory issues and their solution.

Pakistan National Accreditation Council (PNAC) established as a requirement of Article 6 and 9 of the Technical Barrier to Trade (TBT) Agreement, of the World Trade Organization. The primary function of PNAC is to accredit Conformity Assessment Bodies (CABs) including testing and calibration laboratories, inspection bodies and certification bodies according to the international standards.

As the use of accreditation in regulations is implementing worldwide, it is necessary that the policy makers and regulators in Pakistan should be sensitized to this important development in enforcing regulations. The program is aimed at accomplishing the key objectives like to explain various accreditations available like management systems certification, product/process certification, Halal/Personnel Certification, inspection, laboratory etc.
