MoU signing ceremony between PCSIR and the Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce & Industry was held on Friday 8th April 2016 at RCCI office in Rawalpindi. Rana Tanveer Husain Federal Minister for Science & Technology grace the occasion as Chief Guest of the ceremony, whereas, Dr. Shahzad Alam, Chairman PCSIR alongwith his senior management accompanied the Honorable Minister.
In the opening remarks, Mian Humayun Parvez, President, RCCI welcomed the Honorable Federal Minister & Chairman, PCSIR. Afterwards, the President-RCCI briefed the Minister about the activities of RCCI towards exploring the new avenues for business development in global market. The Federal Minister appreciated the efforts of RCCI and were of the view that RCCI is doing its utmost efforts to contribute a lot in national economy. He assured the cooperation of Ministry of Science & Technology & its R&D Organizations to support the business related activities specifically in the areas of Gems & Jewellery, Pharmaceuticals, Herbals, Poultry, Food, Marble etc. In the meanwhile, he invited the business community of the region through RCCI’s platform for having meaningful interaction with R&D Organizations of MoST especially PCSIR, so that both the counterparts could be able to identify the areas for demand driven research with an aim to achieve the target of self-sustainability.
During the visit, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was also signed between PCSIR & RCCI for developing bilateral cooperation, collaboration and linkages to promote Demand Driven Research Culture for mutual benefit and interest of both the entities.
At the end, The Federal Minister congratulate to both PCSIR and RCCI for joining hands and hoped that this cooperation will lead towards the development & enhancements of national export.
