President Mamnoon Hussain said that for the first time in the nation’s history all national institutions are on the same page and there is no threat to the country’s democratic system, adding that democracy will flourish in Pakistan and the country continue to prosper. The President said that all institutions are working within their ambit and no problems will occur if they concentrate on their own work.

President Mamnoon Hussain said this while addressing the participants of the 104th National Management Course of the National School of Public Policy (NPSS) at the Aiwan-e-Sadr, Islamabad on Thursday. The Rector of the School and several senior officials were present on the occasion.

The President, while addressing the participants of the course, said that terrorism and corruption are damaging the national economy and social structure of the country. President Mamnoon Hussain said that since the inception of Pakistan, the NSPP has worked with a missionary spirit and paved the way for national development which has made Pakistan gain high repute in the international community but unfortunately such development did not continue after the 70s and the problems of the people increased. The President further said that as a result, national growth slowed down and the quality of life of the people was adversely affected. The President said that the nation needs to work with full enthusiasm to solve such problems.

President Mamnoon Hussain said that the government’s efforts to eliminate terrorism is producing positive results due to which conditions in all parts of the country including Karachi and Balochistan have significantly improved and terrorist networks are successfully being eradicated. The President said that Pakistan’s enemies do not want to see the country develop that is why terrorism is being promoted in the country but this menace is being tackled successfully. President Mamnoon Hussain noted that the role of intelligence agencies, in this regard, is very important and added that they should improve their performance and coordination between relevant agencies effectively.

The President said that achievement of the goal to make a secure and developed nation in the future is only possible if public servants work responsibly in accordance with the law and should refrain from following illegal orders given on any and all levels. President Mamnoon Hussain further said that corruption will be dismantled at all levels and transparency will be promoted. The President said that the Government’s system of reward and punishment needs to be made effective so that efficient and honest officers can perform their duties without any fear.

President Mamnoon Hussain said that on the directions of the Prime Minister, a committee is working for improvement in the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA), which would prepare recommendations in consultation with all stakeholders in the region and seek approval of the Parliament. The President assured that these recommendations would benefit FATA and the rest of the country.

President Mamnoon Hussain said in an answer to a question that he would perform his duties impartially in the capacity of the President of Pakistan adding that he would not submit to any political influence. The President said that the government is working hard for economic self-dependency and the China Pakistan Economic Corridor will play an important role in this regard.
