Managing Director (MD), Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal (PBM), and Barrister Abid Waheed Sheikh extends a cordial welcome to Thalassemia International Federation (TIF) Delegation in PBM Head Office and Pakistan Thalassemia Centre here in Islamabad. The TIF delegation was comprised of Medical Advisor & Member of the WHO Expert Advisory Panel on Human Genetics Dr. Michael Angastiniotis, Parent Advocate and Ex-TIF Board Member Mr. Stavros Melides, Associate Professor of Pediatrics Dr Adil Akhtar and Member, Medical Advisory Board Khawaja Muhammad Safdar. The situational Analysis on Thalassemia was discussed in depth during the meeting. During the Press briefing Managing Director PBM, Barrister Abid Waheed said, “The medical services being provided in Pakistan Thalassemia Centre are recognized globally and today’s TIF delegation visit is in line with our key initiatives directed towards social and humanitarian action for Thalassemia Free Pakistan”. He further elaborated that Joint Stake Holder Meeting shows the Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal keenness to provide voluntary solutions in the field of Thalassemic community services on Prevention/Safe Blood Transfusion/Chelation through affirming strategic framework for the destitute people. On the occasion, the delegation also mingled with the Thalassemic patients and inquired about their health and facilities being provided to them. TIF delegation got acquainted with the Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal and Pakistan Thalassemia Center activities and campaigns for the poor and deserving Thalassemia patients who require blood transfusions frequently and proper monitoring to gauge survival outcome and quality health care.
