PR No.38 Sai Pakistan And Sai Turkey Have Been Collaborating For Decades: Rana Assad Amin Islamabad: April 5, 2016

A delegation of Turkish Court of Audit called on the Auditor General of Pakistan in Audit House here in Islamabad. An Eight-Member delegation of Turkish Court of Accounts, headed by Deputy President of Turkish Court of Accounts (TCA), Mr. Orhan Yasa, has arrived in Pakistan on a four-day Study Visit to Pakistan ‘‘SAI Pakistan and SAI Turkey have always enjoyed a very cordial relationship and both SAIs have facilitated each other in areas of mutual interest for decades now. We understand that it is extremely important to further strengthen our relations so as to promote greater public accountability and transparency in our respective countries’’, this was stated by the Auditor General of Pakistan, Rana Assad Amin.

In his address to the Turkish Delegation, Rana Assad Amin appreciated the endeavors of TCA to promote bilateral relations and technical cooperation between the two brotherly SAIs. ‘‘I believe that the study visit by high ranking officials of SAI Turkey will be very beneficial for a better understanding of the structure, system and operations of both SAIs and will lead to a better understanding between the two SAIs’’, the Auditor General stated.

Mr. Khurram Raza Qureshi, Direcor General (IR&C), gave a presentation on the mandate, functions and working of the SAI, Pakistan. He explained that the SAI Pakistan enjoyed a constitutional status that ensured independence and continuity of its operations. The delegates were informed that reports of Auditor General of Pakistan were laid before the National, Provincial and District legislatures comprising the elected public representatives and were considered in the Public Accounts Committee of the respective legislatures.

After presentation, a session of qustions and answers was held. The delegates informed that the TCA was set up on the basis of the model in use in continental Europe, and France in particular. It has judicial power and functions through chambers. TCA prepares judicial reports which contain the auditors’s arguments and opinions. The chambers reach a final decision on any charge of public loss in the judicial reports. Head of Turkish Delegation appreciated the professional skills of SAI Pakistan, particularly expertise in Performance Audit Training known all over the world.

In his concluding remarks, the Auditor General of Pakistan said that Pakistan and Turkey are bound together by their common faith and culture and they share a distinct sense of a joint destiny. Rana Assad Amin conveyed his sincere and best wishes to Assos. Prof. Dr. Recai AKYEL, President TCA.
