President Mamnoon Hussain Saturday warmly saw off Iranian President Dr Hassan Rouhani here at Nur Khan Airbase after the conclusion of later’s two-day official visit to Pakistan.

Minister for Climate Change Zahid Hamid and other highofficials were also present on the occasion. The Iranian President visited Pakistan at the invitation of Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, which had significance after lifting of sanctions on Iran, opening new avenues for enhancingeconomic interaction.

It was President Rouhani’s first visit to Pakistan as thePresident of Iran. He was accompanied by a high-level delegation comprising ministers, senior officials and businessmen.

During his stay in Islamabad, the Iranian President heldmeetings with President Mamnoon Hussain and Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, and had an exchange of views on strengthening bilateral relations.

President Rouhani and Prime Minister Sharif led theirrespective delegations at Pakistan-Iran Business Forum, besides both the sides inked a number of memorandums of understanding. Cooperation on regional and international issues of mutual concern were also discussed.
