PR No.215 Meeting Reviews Funding Requirement For Tdps Islamabad

A meeting chaired by Finance Minister, Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar here on Friday reviewed financial matters regarding rehabilitation of Temporarily Displace Persons (TDPs) and also discussed the funding requirements in this regard in future.

The meeting was informed that the resources requirement for TDP had been worked out in consultation with all the stakeholders who are now working in close coordination during the implementation phase. A mechanism has also been put in place to ensure timely provision of funds to the line departments, which was working smoothly, it was informed. The meeting was apprised that Government has allocated sufficient funds in the budget for CFY 2015-16, to facilitate return, rehabilitation and resettlement of TDPs of FATA. Appropriate allocations will also be made in the budget for the resources required beyond June 2016.

The Finance Minister said that the government attaches top priority to matters regarding rehabilitation of TDPs and funds for these purposes would be made available to ensure safe and dignified return of TDPs to their homes. He asked the officials concerned to initiate the process for preparing estimates so that a suitable allocation could be made for return and rehabilitation of TDPs in fiscal year 2016-17. He also emphasized close coordination among departments concerned for undertaking the rehabilitation activities and ensuring full transparency.

Senior officials of the Finance Division and EAD attended the meeting.
