PR No.208 Chairperson BISP Chairs 25th Meeting Of BISP Board Islamabad

Minister of State and Chairperson BISP, MNA Marvi Memon chaired 25th meeting of BISP Board at BISP Secretariat today. It was the 4thBISP Board meeting since her assuming office of the Chairperson of the programme in February last. The following Board members participated: Dr. Zeba A. Sathar, Mr. Yawar Irfan Khan, Dr. Sania Nishtar, Dr. Ali Cheema, representatives of Finance Division, EAD, Foreign Office and Secretary BISP, Muhammad Saleem Ahmed Ranjha.

During her welcome note, Chairperson BISP shared recent initiatives undertaken by the organization and briefly discussed the agenda items for the meeting. She stated that it is encouraging that we are ranked 5th in targeting worldwide. As BISP is ready to update National Socio Economic Registry (NSER), we would make sure that whole of the country is covered equally in the NSER update. She added that the technologically superior solutions would be employed to maximize the accuracy for NSER updation and we are moving towards dynamic registry for the first time in the history.

The Board members were provided with detailed briefing by the management on the progress on NSER update, to be carried out in two phases. In phase-1, survey in 16 districts throughout the country, including AJK, GB and FATA will be initiated from June 2016. In Phase- 2, there will be national rollout of the resurvey. It was further informed that principal approval for update has been granted by Finance Minister, Senator Ishaq Dar.

After through deliberations on the Agenda, the Board approved the recommended de-crediting policy in the larger interest of BISP beneficiaries. The Board also granted approval of the spent de-credited amount for the operational expenditures.

In the end, the Chairperson BISP thanked honorable members of the Board for sparing their valuable time, especially those who travelled to Islamabad from other stations.
