Finance Minister Senator Muhammad Ishaq Dar here Thursday chaired a meeting to review performance of Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) during the CFY 2015-16.

Chief Statistician, Asif Bajwa apprised the meeting about the current trend of inflation indicators.

The Minister while emphasizing close monitoring of inflationary trends directed PBS to ensure that all data related to inflation and other economic indicators was timely updated and wider coverage accorded to its dissemination for information of the general public. He also stressed the need to upgrade the equipment available with the PBS.

The Minister also stated that periodic surveys for ensuring data accuracy must be carried out with the help of latest available technology.

Senior officials of the Ministry of Finance and PBS attended the meeting.
