NADRA has earned an unprecedented net profit of Rs. 06 billion during the current calendar year. It may be recalled that the organization had faced a loss of Rs. 1.68 billion during fiscal year 2011-12.This was informed during a briefing held at interior ministry with Interior Minister Ch. Nisar Ali Khan in chair.
The meeting of the heads of civil departments of Interior Ministry reviewed among others the overall working of the ministry and various departments, the progress made so far on new policies regarding private security companies, bullet proofing of vehicles and arms licensing and other related issues.
Chairman NADRA while briefing the Minister said that the calendar year 2015 was another success story vis-à-vis betterment of service delivery and operational proficiency, improvement of the overall working of the organization and cleansing of the organization from corrupt and inefficient elements.
The Minister while expressing satisfaction over the profit earned by NADRA directed Chairman NADRA to build on the gains and to make greater efforts for further improvements in the service delivery. He said that NADRA should continue its policy of rewarding and encouraging dedicated and honest workers while simultaneously taking action against corrupt and dishonest elements in the organization. The Interior Minister was informed that Safe City Project would soon be made fully operational.
The minister also reviewed working of the Ministry and the attached civil departments.
The Minister emphasized upon the need for greater efforts to streamline file work and putting in place an effective monitoring system for smooth and unhindered movement of files in the ministry. He advised the secretary Interior to ensure that competent officers are tasked to look after important matters such as readmission affairs, immigrations and matters pertaining to INGOs.
The Minister was also briefed about the progress in the registration of INGOs. The Minister directed Ministry officials to expedite the process of according approval to INGOs as per new policy in consultation with all stakeholders. It was also decided that all INGOs whose application for registration, under the new policy, are under process may continue their operations till the final decision by the Ministry. The Minister also directed Secretary Interior to establish a special cell in the Ministry, in coordination with NADRA, for facilitation of INGOs.
Discussing ECL, the Minister observed that as a result of new ECL policy, more than 8500 names have been removed from the list leaving behind a transparent list containing around 3100 names. He said that the new policy ensures transparency and rule of law in the entire system of exit control and permanently resolves the issue of misusing this authority of state for settling personal scores and issues.
The Minister also reviewed the existing policy regarding foreign visits of the Ministry’s officials and the posting of Police officers on foreign missions.
