The 76th National Day of Pakistan was celebrated in UAE here today with national zeal and fervor at the premises of the Embassy of Pakistan, Abu Dhabi and Consulate General of Pakistan, Dubai, says a press release received here today from Dubai.

The ceremony at Abu Dhabi was inaugurated with flag hoisting by Ambassador Asif Durrani and playing of the National Anthem. National Day messages of the President and the Prime Minister of Pakistan were read out. Students from Pakistani schools and Christian community sang national songs. The event was attended by a large number of Pakistani community.

Speaking on the occasion, the Ambassador welcomed the community members and recalled the struggle of the Muslims for having a separate State practicing the principles of equality, justice, and equal opportunity for all. Ambassador paid tribute to the great sacrifices rendered by our forefathers for the independence of the Muslims of the subcontinent. Stressing that Pakistan was both our identity and our destiny, he urged all citizens of Pakistan to renew their resolve to bring their country to the forefront of the comity of nations. He said that Pakistan had confronted formidable threats and challenges, wherein innocent people had been targeted by terrorists and extremists in schools, universities and mosques. However, Pakistanis have faced all these challenges with courage, and measured up to each one with resilience and resolve.

Recalling the historic struggle of the Muslims for a separate homeland under the dynamic leadership of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, the community was urged to play their role with dedication and commitment to make Pakistan an even stronger and more prosperous country. He mentioned that Pakistanis residing in the UAE were a valuable asset for the country, who have been making tremendous contribution towards Pakistan’s economy through their remittances.

Highlighting the fraternal bonds between Pakistan and the UAE, Ambassador Asif Durrani described these relations as solid and strategic.

Another ceremony in UAE was held at Pakistan Consulate, Dubai. Acting Consul General Samar Javed hoisted the National Flag. The ceremony began with recitation of verses from the Holy Qur’an. He also read out messages of the President and Prime Minister of Pakistan to the audience. Acting Consul General stressed upon forging unity among the rank and file of the Pakistani community.

Cake-cutting ceremonies were also held to commemorate the 76th National Day. The ceremonies concluded with the resolve to make Pakistan a progressive, prosperous and peaceful country.
