PR No.192 Pakistan Day Celebrated At Pakistan Embassy Kabul Islamabad: March 23, 2016

Pakistan Day was celebrated in the Embassy of Pakistan, Kabul, today. The Pakistan Day ceremony started with national anthem and hoisting of Pakistan flag by Ambassador, Syed Abrar Hussain. Representatives of Pakistani community in Afghanistan and Embassy officials attended the ceremony, says a press release received here today from Kabul, Afghanistan.

Ambassador Syed Abrar Hussain, in his brief address, highlighted the historical significance of the Day and paid tributes to the Father of the Nation, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, and his companions who had offered immense sacrifices for achieving a separate homeland for the Muslims of Sub-Continent.

The Ambassador also highlighted the efforts made by Pakistan for further enhancing and strengthening bilateral relations with Afghanistan. He said that Pakistan desired to see Afghanistan a peaceful and prosperous country. The Ambassador informed the participants that Pakistan had made tremendous efforts for promoting peace and reconciliation process in Afghanistan, besides executing a number of projects in the health and education sectors of Afghanistan. He also highlighted the contributions made by Pakistan in Afghanistan’s health and education sectors, particularly the construction of Liaquat Ali Khan Engineering University at Balkh, Allama Iqbal Faculty in Kabul University, Rahman Baba School and Hostel in Kabul, Sir Syed Ahmad Khan Faculty of Natural Science in Nangarhar University, Jinnah Hospital at Kabul and Kidney Nishtar Hospital at Jalalabad.

Apart from building educational institutions, Pakistan also offers fully-funded scholarship, the Ambassador said, to Afghan students in various disciplines of its high-ranking universities. He said that almost 2200 Afghan students have already been sent to Pakistan, under the Prime Minister Scholarship for Afghan Students, for studies during the last four years. “This year 600 students will be sent to Pakistan for higher studies under the said programme”, he added.

Ambassador Syed Abrar Hussain urged Pakistani community and Embassy officials in Kabul to serve their country with dedication by following the guiding principles of the Father of the Nation i.e. Unity, Faith and Discipline.
