PR No. 102 “Pakistan will actively participate in International Snow Leopard Conservation Summit”,Zahid Hamid. Islamabad

The ambassador of Kyrgyz Republic Mr. Erik Beishembiev paid a courtesy call to Federal Minister for Climate Change Zahid Hamid at Ministry of Climate Change.

Pakistan will actively participate in International snow Leopard Conservation Summit going to be held in August 2017 in Kyrgyz Republic. He further told the ambassador that both countries have brotherly relations. The ambassador was also informed by the minister that the actions are being taken in Pakistan for conservation of Snow Leopard. The population of snow leopard is increasing due to these efforts.

The Inspector General Forest Nasir Mehmood told the ambassador that Trophy Hunting is playing a great role for conserving Markhor population in Pakistan due to financial benefits for local communities attached to trophy hunting. He further informed that academia and from Quid-i-Azam University and IUCN are conducting research on different features of snow leopard including habitat, DNA, ecosystem.

His Excellency Ambassador of Kyrgyz Republic emphasized the increasing the trade relations between both countries to get benefits of China Pakistan Economic Corridor. He highlighted that Kyrgyz Republic is part of “one belt one road” which has reduced distance and cost for trade between Pakistan and Kyrgyz Republic. He further said Kyrgyz Republic is home to many exports like dry fruits, meat which can source of increasing trade relations between both countries.

Both countries agreed to increase bilateral relations and make snow Leopard Conservation Summit a successful event.

The meeting was attended by Additional Secretary Mr.Abdul Lateef , Inspector General Forest Syed Nasir Mehmood ,Public Relations Officer Ms.Zile Huma and Mr.Mrs Kamalov Second Secretary  and Commercial counsellor.
