PR No.131 Chairman Majlisi Namoyandagon Of Tajikistan Calls On The Prime Minister Islamabad: March 16, 2016

Chairman Majlisi Namoyandagon of Tajikistan Mr. Zuhurov Shukurjon called on Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif at PM House today.

Warmly welcoming the Chairman, the Prime Minister said that excellent relations between Pakistan and Tajikistan are deeply rooted in history, religion and common culture. The Prime Minister noted with satisfaction that relations between the two countries are making progress in all areas including energy, trade and defence. Parliamentary relations play an important part in improving relations between the two countries, said the Prime Minister.

Recalling President Rahmon’s visit to Pakistan, the Prime Minister said that both the countries need to make all efforts to bring bilateral trade to US $ 500 million. Pakistan is keen to implement CASA-1000 project, the Prime Minister said.

Highlighting Pakistan’s endeavours for regional peace and stability, the Prime Minister said that Pakistan has reached out to its neighbors for the sake of peace and stability in the region. Pakistan has a vital stake in peace, stability and development in Afghanistan and we have been engaged in sincere and consistent efforts for promoting peace and reconciliation through Afghan-owned and Afghan-led peace process with a view to bringing lasting peace in Afghanistan, said the Prime Minister.

Chairman Majlisi Namoyandagon of Tajikistan Mr. Zuhurov Shukurjon lauded Prime Minister’s vision of peaceful relations with neighbors and acknowledged Pakistan’s sincere and consistent efforts for promoting peace and reconciliation in Afghanistan. The Chairman said that Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif’s stand is very clear and his policy and vision is commendable.

The Tajik delegation included Mr. Azizmuhammad Kholmuhammadzoda (MP), Mr. Jamshed Murtazoquiov (MP), Mrs. Nasiba Sodiqova (MP), Mr. Mirzoanvar Akhmedov (MP), and Ambassador of Tajikistan to Pakistan Mr. Sherali S. Jononov. Speaker National Assembly Sardar Muhammad Ayaz Sadiq, SAPM Tariq Fatemi and Member National Assembly Mr. Muhammad Talal Chaudry were also present during the meeting.
