Minister of State for Board of Investment Dr. Mifta Imail met with the Ambassador of Spain Carlos Morales at his office today.

Agenda of the meeting was to increase the investment in Pakistan from Spain. Mr. Carlos said that the GSP plus is working well with Pakistan as far as Spain is concerned. Trade between the two countries has increased in the last few years but it is still very low as compared to the other countries. Moreover he asked the minister about the investment opportunities and sectors in Pakistan.

Minister of State welcomed the Ambassador and said that Pakistan has a great potential and it is one of the developing countries where business is growing due to the better law and order situation in the country. He added that there are several sectors where Spain can invest in, for example, alternative energy, edible acids, deep conversion oil refineries, infrastructure and road building, cement industries, textile, fashion and high end brands from Spain, fishing & canning and food processing. He also ensured them that they can always come to BOI for one window operation starting from the registration of Spanish company to other formalities and they can start their businesses as early as possible. BOI would fully support and facilitate them in this regard.
