PR No.77 17-Member Foreign Delegation Visits Wafaqi Mohtasib Islamabad: March 9, 2016

Federal Ombudsman was the only institution where the cases are decided within a period of 45 days, as a result it is enjoying a unique status in the line of world’s Ombudsmen institutions.

This was apprised to a 17-member delegation of the ECO(Economic Cooperation Organization) Postal Staff College that visited Wafaqi Mohtasib Secretariat here on Wednesday.

Senior Advisors of Wafaqi Mohtasib Ejaz Ahmed Qureshi, Hafiz Ahsaan Ahmed Khokhar, Imtiaz Inayat Elahi and Abdul Hameed gave detailed presentations on the working, objectives, jurisdiction and achievements of Wafaqi Motasib Secretariat.

The advisors told the ECO Postal Staff College delegation, currently on a visit to Pakistan, that due to the untiring efforts of Federal Ombudsman of Pakistan M. Salman Faruqui, the institution had earned a great respect and reputation.

They apprised that currently there was not even a single complaint, which was more than 60 days old, pending with the Mohtasib institution and thus its backlog was zero.

They also briefed the delegation about the Speedy Complaint Resolution (SCR) system introduced in January this year which aims to decide a complaint of urgent nature within 15 days and added that currently this system was introduced in 35 far flung districts of the country, said a press release.

The advisors also highlighted the core achievements of Wafaqi Mohtasib, such as the establishment of One Window Facilitation Desks at seven major Pakistani Airports for Overseas Pakistanis, appointment of Grievance Commissioners and introduction of online complaint registration mechanism.

The delegation took keen interest in the working of Wafaqi Mohtasib Secretariat. The delegation included members from Bhutan,Cambodia, Jordan, Kyrgyzstan, Malawi, Maldives, Nepal, Sri Lanka,Lao, Thailand and Vietnam.
