PR No.68 UNFPA Country Director Calls On Federal Minister For IPC Islamabad: March 8, 2016

The newly appointed Country Director, United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), Dr. Hassan Mohtashmi called on Federal Minister for Inter-Provincial Coordination (IPC), Mian Riaz Husain Pirzada at his office on Tuesday.

The Federal Minister welcomed Dr. Hassan Mohtashmi and informed UNFPA Country Director about the functions of Ministry of Inter-Provincial Coordination (IPC).

Secretary Ministry of IPC Captain (Retd) Muhammad Ali Gardezi was also present in the meeting.

Prime Minister Youth Program was discussed during the meeting. The Federal Minister said that Ministry of IPC is launching Prime Minister Youth Training Scheme (2016-18) and managing International Youth Exchange Programs.

He said that Ministry of IPC is also playing its role for bilateral and multilaterals agreements such as Commonwealth, SAARC, OIC and other international organizations by setting goals on Youth Development Agenda.

The meeting noted that UNFPA may facilitate Ministry of IPC in technical and financial assistance for the implementation of youth policy.

Dr. Hassan Mohtashmi said that UN agencies are mandated on youth issues as young people can play important role in development of country. He said that youth issues must be addressed comprehensively.
