On the eve of International Women Day Launching of Trainees Manual for Women Empowerment Centers (WECs) of Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal (PBM) took place here at Islamabad in Auditorium of National Library of Pakistan. Speaker Balochistan Assembly Raheela Durrani graced the occasion as a chief guest while Managing Director PBM Barrister Abid Waheed Sheikh was also present in this significant event. While paying tribute to the women Speaker Balochistan Assembly said that women of Pakistan has really come forward and proven their worth in all walks of life. She applauded the efforts of PBM in order to provide socio-economic rights to the women of Pakistan. She also highlighted the constructive outcome of WECs in both the urban and rural areas. Barrister Abid Waheed Sheikh while addressing on the occasion said that PBM was taking tangible measures for the promotion and protection of women rights by accommodating them in the fields of healthcare, education, economy, rehabilitation and self-reliance. With its 157 Women Empowerment Centers (WECs), PBM is enabling women of the country to lead an honorable life in the society. Presently about 11,000 trainees are enrolled countrywide and more than thousands of females have been passed out from these centers since 1995. He told that these centers are now in the phase of up-gradation and to equip the women with Information and communication skills, modern computer labs are also being established in each center. MD PBM further informed that the task of preparing a uniform and comprehensive syllabus for these centers has been accomplished now, that will be an ultimate way out as well as guidance manual for the trainees of WECs. Barrister Abid Waheed Sheikh was of the view that present Government is committed to take practical measures for bringing the women into all mainstream areas of life and PBM is undertaking the duty to materialize this vision.
