Federal Minister for National food security & Research, Sikandar Hayat Khan Boson would attend the 33rd session of the Asia Pacific regional conference of FAO in Putrajaya, Malaysia on 7-10 March 2016.FAO regional conferences are official forums for member states to formulate an international policy to face the global challenge of food security and agriculture. The current session would guide member states about the future course to meet these challenges in next fifteen years. Number of issues would likely to be discussed which include state of food and agriculture in Asia and Pacific region; revitalizing the rural economy, national nutrition policies, investment and implementation. Furthermore the results and priorities for FAO in Asia and the Pacific region would be considered. The Minister would talk about agriculture and food security in Pakistan in face of global challenges along with the measures taken by the Government of Pakistan to strengthen small farmers and also programs meant to support youth to make Pakistan march towards hunger free nation. Moreover there is a round table on youth in future agriculture with a view of achieving a productive and sustainable Asia-Pacific. Federal Minister Sikandar Hayat Khan Boson would hold a meeting with his Malaysian counterpart and issues regarding cooperation in agriculture sector, Malaysian investment in various agriculture sectors, training and other technical issues are likely to be discussed. This conference provides an important international forum for a country like Pakistan which is an agrarian economy and is facing many challenges, which could positively be addressed with mutual cooperation and sound international policy.
