President Mamnoon Hussain arrived in the Indonesian capital here Sunday to participate in the fifth Extraordinary Organization for Islamic Cooperation Summit (OIC) on Palestine and Al-Quds Al Sharif being held on March 7.

President Mamnoon was received by Indonesian Minister for Villages, Disadvantaged Regions and Transmigration Marwan Ja’far at the Halim Air Base.

First Lady Begum Mehmooda Mamnoon accompanied the President. Pakistan’s Ambassador to Indonesia Muhammad Aqil Nadeem and high officials were present at the air base. Two children clad in traditional dresses presented bouquets to the President and the First Lady.

President Mamnoon on Monday will join heads of state and representatives from 49 Muslim states at the summit which will discuss the situation in Palestine vis-a-vis the Israeli’s unjustified occupation of the Al-Quds Sharif (Jerusalem).

Minister for Climate Change Zahid Hamid told APP here that Pakistan’s participation at the OIC’s high level summit was in complete support to the legitimate cause of Palestinian people.

Zahid Hamid, who attended the morning’s ministerial level meeting of the OIC summit here, said the participants of the meeting strongly condemned the illegal occupation of Palestinian territories by Israel. The foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia, Iran, Indonesia, Tajikistan, Palestine, Egypt and Oman were among those who attended the event.

He said the representatives of Muslim countries unequivocally extended support to the Palestinian people and urged the international community to take notice of the construction of Israeli settlements in Palestinian lands.

The minister said representing Pakistan, he advocated the country’s stance for an independent state of Palestine for the lasting peace in Middle East. He said that Pakistan was desirous of the early resolution of the Palestinian issue in a just and fair manner in line with the wishes of Palestinian people.
