PR No.76 Government Of Pakistan Sends Relief Items To Tajikistan Islamabad

Prime Minister of Pakistan announced a generous support of US $ 1 Million for the earthquake affected people of Tajikistan in the Gorno Badakhshan Region which was hit by an Earthquake of 5.6 magnitude on 7th December, 2015 causing destruction of a large number of houses and displacement of over 7,000 persons.

National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) made arrangement for transportation of relief goods comprising winterized tents, blankets and wheat to Tajikistan. The first consignment of 2,100 Tents and 12,500 Blankets were dispatched today while 1,280 Tons of Wheat procured from PASSCO will be sent in the following days.

On behalf of the Government of Pakistan, Chairman NDMA Major General Asghar Nawaz handed over the 1st consignment of relief goods to Ambassador of Tajikistan H.E. Jononov Sherali at Islamabad.
